Which type of weatherstripping is the right one for your home? Open Cell Foam Tape

GOOD

Open Cell Foam Tape - A self-adhesive foam tape, best used in areas that require a lot of compressibility. May need replacing from year to year in heavily used door jams and windows.

Insulating Felt Strip - A roll of 1/4" thick felt that requires nails (included) or staples for installation. It has a limited ability to expand and compress to fill uneven gaps; best used for even gaps, and/or temporary applications.

Closed Cell Foam Tape

BETTER

Closed Cell Foam Tape - A self-adhesive foam tape, that has a higher density than the open cell foam mentioned above. Best used in areas with uneven gaps and don't require a lot of compressibility. It may need replacing from year to year in heavily used door jams and windows.

Sponge Foam Tape - Have no idea what the difference is...

Vinyl or Rubber Gasket Weather Seals - These seals are extremely durable and are designed for exterior nail-on applications like garages and sheds.

Acrylic Latex Caulk

BEST

Acrylic Latex Caulk - Caulk is a long-lasting solution for sealing out drafts. Depending on the type you buy, it's easy to use and adheres to a variety of surfaces. [Click here - link to Seal Leaks with Caulk page] to read how Polyseamseal® Adhesive Caulk can help you winterize your home.
